£340 raised for the Community Defibrillator
The David Cooper Memorial and Community Shield tournament turned out a huge success!

On Sunday 3rd of September over 70 coaches, parents, committee members and friends of the community came together to play in the club's first ever David Cooper Memorial and Community Shield tournament. The format of the tournament consisted of 8 teams playing each other once. Here are the results:
1. David Cooper's All Stars
2. Calverley St Wilfrids Cricket Club
3. U8s
4. U11s
5. U7s
6. U6s
7. U13s
8. U12s
David Cooper's All Stars (pictured below) came out on top by goal difference, with the U8s placing first within the clubs inter age-group standings.

All in all, regardless of the results, everyone had a great laugh and raised lots of money to go towards Calverley's community defibrillator. Calverley St Wilfrids Cricket Club who featured in the tournament have raised a huge amount of money towards the defibrillator also, amongst other community groups. The football club were there to support their fundraiser event last week, the Brian Wilson Memorial match which was also a massive success. The signed Leeds United shirt that we donated to the raffle/auction raised over a £100. It is great to see the football club and the cricket club supporting each other and the community, especially when both clubs have gone through such similar and saddening circumstances in losing David Cooper and Brian Wilson, their Chairpersons, to a heart attack.

There will be a few sore legs this morning (Monday 4th September) so we think that we will leave the football up to the kids for now... until next year. We hope to build on this years events and keep raising money for important community causes. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported and donated towards the tournament, in particularly those who volunteered their time in running and setting up the event.
