U13s Crowned League Champions
Calverley U13s are finishing their season off in style!

Calverley United U13s were crowned as the Champions of their division this morning, after two successive back to back wins in their double-header against Guiseley. The team went in today's games knowing that one point might be enough and two to secure the title. There was a lot of emotion on the pitch but nerves began to settle in the first game as Calverley took the lead inside two minutes. Guiseley were not going to let Calverley do it the easy way as they piled on the pressure and were 2-1 up at half time. Calverley hit the post early doors into the second half, questioning whether it was going to be their day. The U13s began to show their resilience and it started to pay off as captain Jake Lockwood brought them level with a stunning free kick. The shackles then came off as they stormed to a 5-2 win, assuring league victory. The boys then finished the league season of in style, winning the second game in a hard fought 3-1 battle. The season is not over yet for Neil Longden's U13s, as they look forward to a cup semi-final next week against 2nd place Alpha who will be looking for something to prove after Calverley beat them to the title. Whatever happens next week, the boy's can stand up tall with a big smile on their faces and be extremely proud of their achievements this season.
